Yes, the Steel Horse Rally Inc. has several motorcycle rides and special events throughout the year including the annual Frozen Knuckles Run which kicks off the riding season each spring and helps raise money for the charity. We also have special events to recognize our SHR volunteers and make special donation presentations to the Rally charities. To find out more about any of these events, e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. One of the nicest things about Fort Smith, Arkansas is that we have nice days for motorcycle riding in almost every month of the year. The temperature in May can range from the 70s to the low-90s during the day. You’ll see some flowers still in bloom and green leaves on the trees as you ride some of the great motorcycle roads in the area. Be sure and pack a jacket for cool nights, a rainsuit/raincoat and lots of sunscreen! The temperatures are usually about 10 degrees cooler in the higher elevations like Mount Magazine, the highest point in the state.

The Steel Horse Rally logos represent the strength, resilience and giving nature of the people in our community who make our world a better place. The SHR is dedicated to the military, veterans, law enforcement and first responders and the charity event helps local charities and our community. The logos symbolize the commitment of the Rally volunteers, board members, president, and sponsors who are dedicated to making the rally the best charity fundraising event that it can be.

Everyone is welcome at The Steel Horse Rally! The Steel Horse Rally Inc. charity has worked closely with the Fort Smith Police Department, Fort Smith Fire Department, law enforcement agencies, and local businesses, urging everyone to “roll out the welcome mat” for our visitors. Because this is a family friendly-event no offensive, obscene, or overly-revealing clothing is allowed. No nudity is allowed. Individual businesses may have their own dress codes; please check with business owners if you have any questions. When riding in SHR motorcycle events, riders must wear approved protective eye gear. Helmets are recommended but not required in Arkansas or Oklahoma for adults (but are required for minors). Some event venues and motorcycle dealerships may require additional safety gear.

The Steel Horse Rally Thunder Through the Valley Motorcycle Parade is a moving tradition that has grown larger each year. The parade is open to all kinds of motorcycles and is free to all participants. Donations to the Steel Horse Rally Inc. charity are appreciated. Larger 3-wheeled vehicles such as Slingshots may ride in the parade, however, for safety reasons, we ask that these vehicles ride behind all of the two-wheeled motorcycles. For the official route, staging area and staging time, please click here.

The parade goes underneath a huge American flag displayed by a Fort Smith Fire Department Ladder Truck. During the parade, some streets and driveways will be blocked off, so please follow the instructions of law enforcement officers that will be directing traffic.

The Steel Horse Rally Thunder through the Valley Motorcycle Parade is dedicated to "All Who Serve" and honoring those who protect our country and our community. No political campaigning or advertisements allowed in the parade.

The Steel Horse Rally is now officially a two-state event and most the events and rides take place in western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma. Arkansas does not require adult motorcycle riders over the age of 21 to wear helmets, however, all riders who are under the age of 21 must wear a helmet. In Oklahoma, motorcyclists under the age of 18 must wear a DOT approved helmet. We always encourage safety first and encourage riders and passengers to wear motorcycle helmets and safety gear. It’s a good idea to check the laws of the state or states you may be riding through. In Missouri, motorcycle riders under age 26 must wear a helmet. For more information on motorcycle helmet laws, click here

The Steel Horse Rally Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 charity that helps raise money for local charities. The annual Steel Horse Rally is dedicated to “all who serve” including military, veterans, law enforcement and first responders. Each November and December, the Steel Horse Rally Inc. accepts applications from charities and organizations that make a positive impact in our community. The applications are available during those two months on the Steel Horse Rally webpage. After the applications are reviewed, the board of directors chooses several deserving charities to receive proceeds and special benefits from the Steel Horse Rally like booth space and an opportunity to get the word out about their organizations. No charity applications are currently being accepted at this time. Due to the postponement of the 2020 Steel Horse Rally, the charities slated to benefit from the 2020 Steel Horse Rally received donations raised at the 2021 Steel Horse Rally. For more info, click here
